How to Own a Blog on a College Student's Budget

As most of you know, I am a college student. And as a college student, I have dues to pay like tuition, housing fees, sorority fees, and the list goes on. As you ALL know, I am also a blogger and being a blogger AND a college student has been a learning experience as far as budgeting goes. In light of this situation, Pretty In Pink Megan posted a blog about how she affords being a fashion blogger and she inspired me to do the same! If you are an aspiring blogger, or just a bargain hunter when it comes to shopping, make sure to keep reading and check out how to do it all on a college students budget...

1. Borrowing

IF your blog is more fashion based, having friends with the same style and size as you can save you A TON of money. Like me, my best friend is also obsessed with clothing, petite as well, and luckily we have the same taste. SO, we pass clothes around left and right based on the look we need for that photo shoot, date or whatever else we are getting dressed up for. It's like having two wardrobes for half the price....so make yourself some fashion-forward friends and thank me later.

2. Amazon

Now that I use Amazon, I feel like I can't live my life without it. Before I buy ANYTHING, shirts, skirts, shoes, props, etc., I search Amazon to see if it has what I need. If it does, it's most likely going to be cheaper and it can be at my house in 2 days. I've found shirts for $50 in stores like American Threads but for $10 on Amazon. It's definitely worth trying out.

3. Honey

Honey is a program that I downloaded onto my computer a couple of weeks ago. As you shop online, it searches for promo codes for the site you are shopping on that you can use to get discounts and coupons. It varies from giving promo codes for 15% off to 50% off. It can also track price changes online to predict if the price of your product will go down in a couple of days or weeks. It's so helpful when you don't want to search online for hours trying to find a promo code that works.

Real talk. Ebay is the bomb. If Amazon doesn't have it, Ebay probably does. And if you're weird about wearing other peoples clothes, you can buy stuff brand new and it's still cheaper than buying it in the store. I am a sucker for Lulu Lemon leggings but it kills me to spend that much on a pair. SO, Ebay is where I get all that name brand stuff that is way too overpriced in stores. Don't knock it till you try it!

5. Depop

I would say Depop is a much less well known than Ebay but it's the same thing, just all clothes. You can search by brand, article of clothing, color and whatever else you want. I have just recently redownloaded Depop onto my phone and I'm loving it. A lot of other bloggers I follow, like Noelle Downing and Mary Katherine Skinner,  will post clothes on there and they don't wear anymore so, it's not hard to find some cute stuff on there.

These are all of my tips and tricks on how I have saved money as a blogger. If you have any tips of your own, leave them in the comments section below! Have an amazing week and I'll talk to y'all next Monday.

XOXO,

Olivia Shea
